Pinkie Pie Cosplay by Yunsildin Pinkie Pie Cosplay by Yunsildin
This is my wonderfully fun to wear MLP FiM Pinkie Pie Cosplay. I designed the outfit and had help sewing it by my mother. The wig was hot bath curled using aquarium tubes.
All other accessories were bought at my local Party Galaxy store.

I sadly did not break the fourth wall in this cosplay but I did bring a lot of laughter to many convention attendees.

I wore this at Izumicon 2011

I appreciate the suggestion but I like being a human Pinkie Pie. It's one of the reasons I don't have pony ears or a tail on my cosplay.

But the idea and construction you have there is really clever. I think it will be neat to see a finished version.

Izzy: Hey, I know you! My friend Chia (one of the users of this account) actually took a picture of you! I'm kinda bummed I wasn't a brony at the time, otherwise it would've been a total blast to talk to you! Let me just say that your Pinkie outfit is pretty dang spot on, as well as some of your emulated mannerisms of her.

Is there any possibility you'll be at Izumicon 2012 with this outfit?

Thanks! I love the fact that I pulled off a memorable Pinkie Pie. And yes Pinkie is likely to be a common cosplay for me at conventions as I really enjoy being her. I'm actually planning of designing a few more outfits to wear on different days whether I have them done in time for this years conventions is unknown.

I will be at Tokyo in Tulsa 2012 as Pinkie 2 out of 3 days. I will also be taking Pinkie again to Izumicon 2012.

The shirt was something I got from wal-mart and bought a second to do the alterations I wanted to it. So it's a normal shirt that's been altered. Made the sleeves puffy and we cut some of the length off it.

I did it much like you do for doll wigs just with a much bigger pot for the water. I followed this tutorial at the Volks website. [link]
Instead of straws, you can use pvc pipe, or any sort of tubing that won't melt under the heat. Also I had to use hair pins to hold the plastic wrap in place.

What did you put it on to dunk it into the water?
Can you kinda give me a little step by step? I got *kinda* how to do it with the tutorial but I dunno how to get it to where it will curl a human sized wig. I wanna curl one of my loli wigs like that. is your wig heat resitant?

BTW, I'm having a bit of money problems still but I'm saving up to get the draing from you. I'm sorry it's taken SO long. but I will get it from you soon.

It's very much the same as the tutorial.
here is the wig that I curled. [link]

When you do this be sure to set aside quite a bit of time to do it. I set my wig up on my foam dummy head so I could put the curlers on it. Use the steps for putting the curlers on like for the doll hair tutorial just use some hairpins to help hold the hair and plastic wrap in place. Use whatever you like for the curlers, I used aquarium tubing that I cut to be the size of curlers.

I would suggest pvc pipe though, as the aquarium tubing did become bendable in the heat of the water. It didn't hurt my curls though it just made the tubes unusable if I needed to curl another wig later.

I suggest you get help (as in more hands)at this point as I needed an extra hand to help.

After I finished putting the curlers in the hair. My mom filled the largest cooking pot I have in the house with water and carefully monitored how hot it got. You don't want it boiling, you want it below boiling temp.

As the water was being monitored by my mom I pulled the wig off the dummy head and placed it on the bottom of a small handled pot and wrapped the curls in place with more plastic wrap.

When the water was ready we took it off the stove and set it in the sink. Then shoved the wig, upside down so most of the wig would be submerged, into the water. It's important that all the curls are under the water. So you need wooden spoons to help hold them under water.

A boring 15minutes later you can take it out carefully, water is still hot and can burn. I took mine outside and hung it in the sun on a non windy day so it could drip. When it got dark, I brought it in in a towel and left it.

Next morning I pulled all the wrap off, pulled the curlers out carefully and as the wig will still be wet, let it hang on the end of a chair and let it dry.

After it's dry, you may want to pull some of the curls apart to give it some body, little bit of hairspray to help hold the curls shape and voila. Curled wig.

And as I said I'm not worried about the drawing. It's staying safe in a portfolio slip of mine until your able to pay for it. It's just waiting for you. ^_^
